I like how Lauren could diagnose a problem in the sound and immediately give me and exercise to work on that and to explain what it's feeling like but then also explain what it shouldn't be feeling like....Lauren really cares about her students and their development....Most teachers that I have worked with never cared about the performance aspect and applying some of the things I'm learning."

My teaching approach draws on modern methods of singing for contemporary pop, rock, R&B, country, etc. My teaching method combines useful information from a number of different vocal methods I have studied.
Unlike many teachers that focus one the one method fits all approach, I focus on what works best for the student and what helps them learn about their voice.

I am both a voice teacher and a voice coach. A voice teacher teaches you the technical aspects of how to sing: how to breathe, how to support your voice, how to get pleasing tone and good resonance, etc. A voice coach helps you interpret your song, make cover songs your own, and improve your performance. I tend to incorporate both into lessons depending on your needs, interests and goals.

Lessons can include any of the following topics, depending on your goals, priorities and interests:

Basic through Advanced Vocal Techniques

  • Learning to sing
  • Re-learning how to sing after a long break
  • Connecting through your bridges
  • Singing effortlessly
  • Singing with more power and resonance
  • Singing louder
  • Extending your range to sing higher and lower
  • Song interpretation
  • Harmonizing
  • Microphone technique
  • Recording studio preparation

career Topics

  • Demo song selection and development
  • Promo kit development
  • Image and style development
  • Band life - getting into one, starting one, or dealing with the challenges of being in one
  • Making a living in music

I've seen tons of improvement, but most importantly what other people have told me about my voice. My band members in particular. We hadn't been playing for about a month and when I came back, everyone was talking about and really complimented on my voice...just within a month they were already able to tell the difference in my voice.

The improvement in my voice have been tremendous and very quick actually. My range has improved and I feel like the overall quality has improved. It's got more a depth to it now which I like. I started taking lessons because singing was a hobby of mine that I wanted to get back into...Now that I can hear my voice improving I am becoming a lot more ambitious and I'm starting to audition for bands which is really fun. I'm really grateful to Lauren for helping me do this. It's great. My life is becoming pretty cool.

I drive up from Bridgewater which is about an hour drive. The reason I do that is because its been hard to find a really good teacher where I'm from. I've been looking to work with a professional, someone that really knows how to teach & performs & knows what I want to do. It's really hard to find a teacher like that....I taught myself guitar for a bout a year or two...In the past four months I've gotten much better than in the past two years.

My range has definitely improved a lot. My lower range and higher range was a little shaky and wasn't very strong and I've definitely seen a huge improvement." "You've been very helpful and I have seen huge changes in my voice since I started. I can't thank you enough!"

~ Vanessa, voice student

I really enjoyed working with you because your teaching strategy keeps the student constantly motivated, thus, gradually bringing out the best in them. :) I would love to work with you over and over again.

I'm a 53 year old lawyer with three teenagers. I started taking lessons with Lauren last year and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. I have no music background and no “natural talent”, but I love music…I look forward to my weekly lessons because it’s a total change from the rest of my life. Her approach is steady and gauged towards results.. After a year, I’m playing the Stones, Eagles and Buffet with enough skill to earn compliments from my wife and kids, difficult critics to say the least." - George M, guitar student

My daughter began taking both singing and guitar lesson two years ago and is making incredible progress. Soon after my daughter, I decided to "go for it" and try lessons myself. I looked for another teacher not wanting to 'cloud the line' between my daughter's goal to be a professional and mine to just have fun with it. The other teacher was competent, but I felt I was lacking something in my strumming on the guitar.
After a couple of years, I saw how well my daughter was playing in proportion to me. I decided to ask Lauren, to teach me to play guitar. After a few lessons, I was thrilled at how specific the lessons are and how competent I felt and still feel when I follow her thorough, yet easy steps to learning a song. I have learned different strumming patterns, proper hand placement and so much more. Though I may not be Keith Richards or Jimi Hendrix, I am reliving my youth when I practice guitar and feel successful at it now.
